Carrie Proudfit

Lead Public Information Officer, Orange County Fire Rescue Department

Carrie Proudfit is a veteran PIO, with an extensive background in public safety media relations. She currently manages the press team at Orange County Fire Rescue, one of the largest fire departments in the nation. Proudfit first joined Orange County in 2014 after a decade as the Central Florida Department of Children and Families spokesperson. Prior to Orange County Fire Rescue, she worked with former Public Safety and Health Services Director Dr. George Ralls, where she provided direct media support to each of the county’s public safety departments – including animal services, corrections and health services, as well as several of the county’s major public safety and health services initiatives. In addition, Proudfit was a PIO with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Mass Communication from the University of Central Florida, as well as Advanced PIO Federal Emergency Management certification. Proudfit is from Southern Maryland and lives with her husband and daughter in Winter Park.
